The Design Structure Matrix (DSM)

The web portal Visual Complexity provides a comprehensive overview of various visualization techniques to represent complex interdependencies.

The aim of this project is to develop a unified set of complex systems theoretical metodologies. This is in order to characterize complex networks, helping addressing fundamental questions about stability, efficiency and functionality of this networks.

In this project, citation networks among all major scientific communities were reviewed and visualized; the vizualization too and the calculation of a dependency metric is explained online, and the software is available as a plugin for the Adobe Flash player.
